Hi, I have never had a ferret and I really want one! I asked a friend who had 2 for about 3 mos. and she said they hardly used the litter box, the smell was awful and a few other things. Is it possible her ferrets were ill? Is this the norm? I doubt anyone would have them if it were that bad,,,,,tell me something good.

Love your site, glad to see there are some out there that would like to set the law makers straight. So many think they know about Ferrets and what they do and they are so clueless which is true for all animals and the biggest problems com from the owners and not the animal.
Now I do have a question for you though I adopted a pair of Ferrets last August and they are wild man and woman they go crazy when they get out of there cage (they are only caged cause we also have dogs and the youngest wants to play with all the others but in his excitement to play he gets too rough) Their wildness at home doesn’t bother me at all but I would love to take them out on walks with us and out to the stores when we go shopping but am scared to death that they will take off and be lost and that would be devastating to us and could be for them. any suggestions as to how to get them to calm down when they are being held so we can take our four legged children with us. They have calmed down some since we have had them (I’m not sure that they were ever out of the cage with the previous owner.

cute! i love ferrets, i used to have 2 but one passed away, my dad found my ferret, her name is freeda, it’s a crazy story, but here’s a picture i found of her sleeping, it makes me laugh.
